Return to 2006 TL

In 2007 and early 2008 I recorded some mileage on the trip computer to see what the 2006 TL was able to do. In all of these tests I was aware of my driving habits and did not usually make use of the power that the TL is capable of developing under a heavy foot. Here are the results.

This reading was taken on a trip to Florida. Normal highway driving was at about 120 kph thus the average speed of 101 which accounts for stops and a few traffic tie ups.

Mileage of 7 liters per 100Km (ie. 7.0 to 7.9) translates to 36-40 Imperial mpg or 30-36 U.S. mpg.

This was a log term test which included highway, suburban and city driving. The average speed was about half of that in the previous test.

Mileage of 9 liters per 100Km (ie. 9.0 to 9.9) is about 29-31 Imperial mpg or 27-29 U.S. mpg.

This test was run in April 2008 on a trip between Brampton and Kitchener Ontario and return. I intentionally tried to maximize my mileage by keeping to about 100 kph, the speed limit, and staying off the throttle as much as possible. Traffic was fairly heavy but moving fairly well.

6 liters per 100 Km (ie. 6.0 to 6.9) is 41-47 Imperial mpg or 34-39 U.S. mpg.

This test was a trip to Fort Erie in mid-June 2008 which included about 40 Km of non-highway driving the following day. Just to prove that the above mileage wasn't a fluke.

The last test was local driving in Brampton. I again attempted to maximize my fuel efficiency. Much of this driving was short trips of 15 minutes or less.

9 liters per 100Km (ie. 9.0 to 9.9) is about 29-31 Imperial mpg or 27-29 U.S. mpg.
